Young Felix and Gotrek

“I cannot quite remember exactly how and when the decision to head southwards in search of the lost gold of Karak Eight Peaks was made. Alas, like so many of the important decisions made during that period of my life, it was taken in a tavern under the influence of enormous quantities of alcohol. I do seem to remember an ancient and toothless dwarf mumbling about “gold”, and I distinctly remember the insane gleam which entered into my companion’s eyes when it was described to him.
‘It was perhaps typical of my companion that on no more than this slim provocation, he was willing to risk life and limb in the wildest and most barren places imaginable. Or perhaps it was typical of the effect of “gold fever” on all his people. As I was later to see, the lure of that glittering metal had a terrifying and potent power over the minds of all of that ancient race.
‘In any event, the decision to travel beyond the Empire’s southernmost borders was a fateful one, and it led to meetings and adventures the dreadful consequences of which haunt me still…’”
— From My Travels with Gotrek, Vol. II,
by Herr “Felix Jaeger (Altdorf Press, 2505)”

No update for a while, I've been on vacation. Hooray! But I'm back now. Boooo! For a couple of years now, Blue and I have been discussing a series of scenarios based on the Bill King novel Wolf Riders. If you haven't read it yet, it's available in the First Gotrek and Felix Omnibus, it's great and go buy it now! Now, because we're old folk, we take a while to do things like this. For the uninitiated, this is the story where Gotrek loses his eye, so any model to represent him would need both eyes. And it just so happens that I had already painted the Talisman Slayer whole looks exactly like Gotrek except he's got both eyes! I'd already shown him off here, so I won't go into any detail on him.

Unfortunately, for Felix, there were less options. The Felix models that have been produced all hold Karaghul, which he had not yet acquired during the time of Wolf Riders. So my best bet was to build one. The parts were mostly easy to source, with the exception of the torso. Felix wears a chain-mail shirt, but finding a good torso was quite difficult. In the end, I had to go with a leather clad torso. But the legs, torso, and arms were all from the Empire Free Company and the head was a Bretonnian Knight Errant head, with a scar added. The cloak came from the Victrix Gauls. I put him on a round base to match Gotrek, but also because the Felix model was used to represent the Talsiman Thief in White Dwarf 177. Now, we just have to figure out the rest of the scenario!
