Interfectorem Vespa

Interfectorem Vespa blinked for the first time, clearing its birth ichor from its eyes. Now that its mechanical face was gone, it could finally see clearly, see in ways that had previously been forbidden to it. But with this new warp site, it could see new and delicious ways to destroy the enemies of the loving chaos and anarchy for which it longed...

Sordidum Mala

The one known as Sordidum Mala stood before the walls of the imperial palace, its giant eye, where no eye should be (for it was machine not man), weeping for the horrors it had seen. But the malevolent  thing that now resided in it cared not for those horrors because it was interested in one thing -- death.

From the Far Galactic East they come...

No one is really sure from who these titans were, but as Horus advanced on Terra they came. They came from the far east, where no titan legions were known to be stationed and they bore no recognizable markings. When hailed, only garbled and guttural sounds responded, although, very occasionally, the names Interfectorem Exspiravi and Upsilon Deus could be heard. The armies of Horus did not waste much time attempting to communicate with them; these titans were heavily blessed by the four Powers and their loyalty was not an issue. And slay in the name of Horus, they did...

Bob Naismith Painting Challenge

"The all enclosing armor was really a development of again my historical information, you know, the idea of like Medieval armor with knee armor that had to articulate, you know that the feet would have to articulate but still be armored. These are common elements in Medieval play armor, full play armor. The helmet, again, we knew it was fully enclosed. We knew that these guys were going to be I suppose kind of like Roman soldiers. So they were like legions. There were going to be loads of these guys, loads of them. So the helmet was loosely based on I suppose like a Roman legionary’s helmet with neck, neck protector, ear protectors that roll-over the ear, and sometimes you would have a heavy browband … Now, the backpack was kind of, in design terms, again it was almost kind of like it had a historical root in my mind, in the sense that it is a cylindrical form at the top which was — you could say it was like based on a rolled blanket from historical periods, like the Napoleonics. There was a backpack type shape in the center, which if anything probably resembles like a Second World War American GI’s backpack. Then the nozzles at the bottom were surrogates for some of the equipment packs that I referred to earlier on. So that the guy looked like he always had equipment with him.

Ultramarine Lieutenant Calsius

Lucian Calsius is a Lieutenant in the Ultramarines Chapter's 2nd Company and a veteran of the Indomitus Crusade, where he received his current rank. Due to being a relative newcomer to his Chapter, Calsius works hard to earn the respect of his Battle Brothers and has displayed bravery and wisdom in numerous battles. Besides the Indomitus Crusade, Calsius has also taken part in the Plague Wars and defeated an Ork attack on the Agri World Nova Thulium. His celebrated victory there, including personally killing the Warboss Guttrekk, proved to be the turning point that allowed the Imperium's forces to defeat an Ork invasion of the Realm of Ultramar's eastern flank.

Bob Olley Genestealers #PaintABob

The Cult of the Jade Destroyer was getting restless. The Magi were not ready to strike, but the brothers were growing tired of toiling in the mines below the deserts of Choutera IV. Drekker had his boys training as often as they could, but the plebs who ran the mines needed to see the work done or they would get suspicious. Still, he had been blessed by the gods with an extra limb, so they listened. But he could only hope that the time for uprising would been soon.

The Baptist

"And you, come forth to receive your communion" preached Father Phobetor, pointing to the next in line in the congregation. The supplicant climbed the stairs to the dais and knelt in holy prayer. Father Phobetor gestured and a hooded figure approached the worshiper, dousing him in divine vapors and bringing visions of the Emperor.

Father Phobetor, Prophet of the Emperor

Father Phobetor led his flock from their humble world of Nestoria IV on a pilgrimage the shrine world of Cyrial, home of the Reliquary of St. Tomas the Disciple of our glorious Emperor. The Reliquary of St. Tomas is a wonder to behold; as the planet is entirely covered in water. However, every fifty decades, the water drains while the Reliquary simultaneously rises from the waters--it is truly a majestic sight to behold!

Waz the Louse-House, a #MakeATrish Scavvy

Waz hunted through he much of the underhive. Something valuable had to be in here. Those fraggin' uphivers lived such a life of decadence that they could just trash things without even making sure it didn't work. "And they call us scum," he thought as he dug through the trash. Suddenly, he heard a noise. As quick as a cat, he grabbed his (t)rusty autogun and fired a couple of shots off in the direction of the noise. Quietly, he crept over to see what he hit. It was just a giant sump rat. Well, at least he had supper for the night...

Eldar Farseer--A Christmas Present

If you're not familiar with the Hobby Hangout on Facebook (or if you're not even on Facebook), its a group for people to share their experiences with the model painting hobby; it isn't limited to miniature painting, but that's what most people share. They do a Christmas Mini Swap and this year I decided to join in. I like doing these kind of things periodically as it gives me a chance to try out some new things because I don't have to worry about it fitting in with an army.

Brother Kovačević of the Star Phantoms

Brother Kovačević quietly stalked the ruins of Badab Primaris; bolter always at the ready. He and his squad would make those bastard Astral Claws pay for their crimes against the Imperium. They had killed too many of his battle brothers to be avoid recompense in blood. In fact, Borther Kovačević fully intended to see the planet a wash in traitor blood...

The Golden Legion Begins

The Adeptus Custodes forms the Emperor's inner guard whose duties are to serve and protect the Master of Mankind. A continuous rota ensures that there are always several hundred of these select warriors active within the palace, as well as a small elite of guardians who never leave the Emperor's side. Their uniforms are traditional but effective, leather breeches and boots wit a long black cloak over a naked torso. Their helmets are ancient works of art; all-enclosing and tall they impart a threatening, impersonal appearance as well as providing a battery of protective equipment and communicators. The weapons carried by these guards look very much like spears or spear-guns, but are in fact lasers built to resemble the traditional and symbolic guardian-spear which has long association with the Adeptus Custodes and which appears on their banners, badges and other regalia. The guards themselves never leave Earth, and only rarely leave the imperial palace where their duties lie - their place is by the Emperor's side.

Sandstorm Wars Review--Part 2

"Not all who worship the plague god gain the mutations of the truly devout. That is not to say that they are no less fervent in their devotion, but they lack the strength of will to attract the attention of their dark patron. But these cultists are the most worrisome, for they can blend in with the imperial masses to plot and scheme."

Sandstorm Wars Review--Part 1

"And when the Plague God show favors upon those humans that flock to his cults, he sometimes bestows upon them mutations to make the cultists resemble the Plague Marines who's aid they pray for. Even though they look like the dreaded heretic Astartes, they are not. But they do posses greater strength and resilience then regular humans."

Iron Warrior Cultists

"Get to work ya wretches!" barked the overseer as he gunned the engine on his chainblade. The half-witted slaves continued working, too simple to understand the overseer's orders. Nor did he expect them to. As the only one who's brain was not surgically altered, his shouts were to help his own anger at the lack of progress because he knew his neck was on the line if the slaves did not complete their tasks to the Warsmith's liking.

Brother Ignatius of the Dark Angels, Fourth Company

“Cloud Runner gazed on the wreckage of his home and felt like weeping. He closed his eyes and took three breaths, but when he looked again, nothing had changed. He turned back towards the dropship Deathwing.

Weasel-Fierce had just descended from the ramp. He gazed round ferally at what once had been Cloud Runner’s village and brought his storm bolter into attack position. A grin split his skull-like face.

‘Dark Angels, be wary. Death has walked here,’ he said. The sun glistened off Weasel-Fierce’s black Terminator armour. With his white hair and Y-shaped scar-tattoos, he looked like the Eater of Bones come back to claim the world.”

Painting with Banshee

If you are in the Decimus system, you do not go to the planet Septimus unless you are desperate. If you must go to Septimus, avoid the hive of Septimus Prime. But if you do find yourself in that hive, whatever you do, stay away from the red-light district of that Emperor-forsaken cesspit. Should you end up in the red-light district, under no circumstances should you enter one of the many "gentleman's" clubs. And should the circumstances arrive that you find yourself in such a club, do not, under any circumstances, touch the performers for the Ogryn Bouncers are renowned through the system for their ferocity.
-Imperial Infantryman's Guide to Planet-Side Leave

Ruug blinked a little as the red lights on the club's door flashed furiously in  his eye and took a deep drag on his lho-gar. Then he grunted knowing he was about to teach this piss-ant hummie why you don't touch the girls...

Plegg Marines!

Nogrod looked in horror at the thing approaching him. "How could one of our champions shun it's fellow squats to embrace the ruinous powers?" the though as he flicked the switch on his autogun to full auto. He confidently took aim and fired, release a series of rapid fire shots that each hit it squarely in the chest. The horror of seeing this abomination quickly turned into shock  as it continued to approach him. He'd put enough bullets into it to drop a mature flignox and this thing wasn't even phased...

Battle at the Farm

The planet of Rynn's World lies on the edge of human space, within easy striking range of countless Ork Warlords that rule the neighboring systems. Orks are loathsome and disorganized aliens, creatures with little intelligence and no sense of pity. Until now, Rynn's World has been left in peace. The main reason for this is almost certainly that it is home fo the Crimson Fists Chapter of Space marines - who's fortress/monastery has stood on the rocky soil of Rynn's World for over a thousand years. However, last week the planet was invaded by a force from the Ork Empire of Charadon. The insane Ork Warlord, one Snagrod the Arch-arsonist, has already conquered the human world of Badlanding, not to mention several minor Ork Empires. Rynn's World is only sparsely populated, but (prior to the invasion) had a complete and effective missile-defense system designed to deter would be invaders. Confident in the power of their defenses (and forgetting the irrational behavior of Orks) no-one anticipated the invasion. Even so, all would have been well were it not for the freak accident that caused a defense missile to glance off-course and plunge down right on top of the Space Marine Arsenal. The Marine base and its complement of fighting men and machines was completely destroyed. The only survivors were the Chapter leader Commander Pedro Cantor and fifteen Marines. Without the Marines the human settlers were quickly slain and their townships overrun. Now only the Planet's capital, New Rynn City, remains in human hands.

Crimson Fist

The invasion of Rynns World by the Ork Warlord Snagrod the Arch-arsonist of Charadon came as no surprise to anyone. In fact, Snagrod's eternal boasting about his conquest of the neighboring system of Badlanding had come to the attention of even Commander Pedro Cantor, Chapter Leader of the Crimson Fist Space Marines. But, in common with the rest of the population, the Marine leader had always maintained that, 'it couldn't happen here,' and that, 'no stinking little Ork Warlord was going to mess with the Crimson Fists.' In common with the rest of the population he was dead wrong. If Cantor had taken the Ork's threats a little more seriously things might have been different, if the planet's defenses had even been at full alert things would certainly have been different, and had the stray defence missile not fallen to the ground directly on top of the Marine's Arsenal things would have been very different indeed. For one thing, Cantor wouldn't be holed up from the night in a burnt out farm, waiting for an opportune moment to sneak into New Rynn City--the largest settlement on the world and the only one still in human hands. The Ork patrols had passed increasingly frequently as the surviving Marines approached the city, and it was inevitable that sooner or later they would have to fight.
